Apple reported a great previous quarter, but thinks that the next quarter may see fewer sales due to a perceived slowdown in the US economy (even though anyone with even a gnat's knowledge of economy would know that it is not a big deal). The stock market is a bet on future performance, not past performance, therefore people who have no idea what they are doing [read: most investors] dumped the stock to make their profits. I have 50 shares at a split adjusted cost of $10, so I'm holding on to it for the long run.

Well, I just had to wipe my hands to type this after eating my nachos, so i wouldn't mind not touching it, so I could still be eating....that being said..this is too weird...A bar rumor. I was out last weekend and a friend told me about a friend of his with an Apple powerbook prototype that he is testing that uses exactly that. It's a three dementional, no touching, control. I guess it works with sensors behind the screen and in between the keys on the keyboard. You can write in the air, move items, etc. I wish I can say it was first hand that I saw this, so you have to take it as it is...only a rumor...BUT it does fit into this thread.

Trackpads and touch screens are quite different input devices. Touch screen input requires that you actually "touch" what you want to manipulate. With a trackpad, you don't have quite the precision to precisely put your finger on an object on screen, since the object is not displayed on the track pad.
It just doesn't translate that well. Trackpads still very much require cursors, which iOS's UI lacks.
Then all you need is a cursor overlay; just how you operate in an iOS simulator.

I'd say it's more of a yes and no on AT&T quality.
While their service may be spotty in certain locations, the iPhone doesn't exactly have the most stellar antenna.
My iPhone has dropped calls in locations where my N75 (also on AT&T) has never missed a beat.

Someone claim the got 43 mins frame time on the biadv with a core i860 and Linux, same CPU as the higher end iMac. That is the same as my 3Ghz 8 core Mac Pro. You think it is possible?
i think it was overclocked to 3.8 ghz or did i read that somewhere else?
I was looking at that and the link just gives me a whole bunch of binary text crap. I'm not sure what to do with that.

I think they were dreaming;) my i7 920 with ubuntu does normal frames in about 6 minutes, I think, I'm at work now so not absolutely sure but in that range. The mp is running normal frames at about 2 minutes.

Well to be honest I was referring to the windows version of Word. I use Office 2003 on Windows and Office 2004 for Mac. I am not sure if the Mac version of word has the same plug-ins.
On the windows version. Go to file -> new and select the publishing tab. From there select Brochure. It will fire up the wizard and template if you have these options loaded.

I tried the MM that came with my last computer, and I thought it sucked. Steve Jobs is brilliant, but also stubborn. He didn't want to make a 2 button mouse, so he found a way to make a mouse that didn't actually have 2 buttons, but could work like it did. I have a Logictech that works amazingly. It's comfortable, and I can do everything really fast and easy. I think most people that do/will buy the MM, do so because it's Apple.

Lets assume I opt for a ssd hard drive and my mac ships 4 weeks from today also lets assume Lion comes out in 6 weeks. Typically apple gives the upgrade for free for anyone that purchased a mac in the last month. Would you still get the upgrade for free since you purchased the imac 6 weeks ago or is the upgrade determened by shipping date?

I'm honestly surprised by a lot of you. The whole "no single android phone outsells the iPhone!" argument, is foolish and weak. It's a platform war.
How do you "win" a platform war?
Does Google win because they have so many devices running their Android OS? *Marketshare*

Celebrated the completion of a 4 hour residency interview at UCSF with dinner at Wayfare Tavern where my cousin works.
Really? I took the cue from the post count and not page count. I was under the impression that graphic-heavy threads are closed after about 2000 posts.
I already have one and just bought the very same again! Very good ext drives!
Agreed, I love the elements drives. I have two that I've stacked and used spacers to keep them from actually touching. I'd like to get another as they're attached to my mac mini that I use as an HTPC.
