Hurry up and take my money Apple! Here is my wishlist, the first section is PLAUSIBLE:

    1) Released for GSM sim cards (probable, maybe support for CDMA later on)
    2) Bluetooth (well, I think this is a given)
    3) Good integration with iCal, Mail, etc

Now what I WANT that might not happen:
    4) Not tied to a service provider
    5) Affordable LOL
    6) Wifi built in
    7) Modem support for dialup over GSM
    8) Lightweight, small FF

    PowerBook G5 by the holidays.
I wish this board would block automatically "PowerBook G5" and replace it with "************" so this tired so-called-joke would end someday.

Sources? Evidence? Easy to make cheap accusations, much harder to prove them.

When Apple's supply shortages at iPhone and iPad launches are as terrible as they have been, Apple is either 1.) inept at judging the demand for their product, #2.) inept at acquiring the components necessary to produce the quantity of product they need to meet demand or 3.) holding back supply to drum up demand.

I have a pretty hard time believing that #1 or #2 are true for company the size of Apple.

We might hate to admit it as Apple fans, but Apple needs the labels for the iTunes store to work just as much as the label needs Apple.

Not true. Apple doesn't need the iTunes Store since all iPods are full of stolen music! ;)

Funny thing is, this is NOTHING compared to the information about you out there already. Keeping a log of cell towers you've been in the vicinity of is positively benign.

Spend 12 years working in accounts recovery and your eyes will open.

i like the powerbook g5 jokes and have been around for a long time if that helps

I like them as well, but I think it's been replaced with Merom next tuesday, G6 Video iPod next next tuesday and the good old iPhone next tuesday rumors.

Still good for a laugh ;)

Does anyone think the recent "problems" at Apple are going to have any effect on what happens Monday.

    Story: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/08/05/BUGAHKBK3H1.DTL

If there are products that are they "maybe" list, this might put them on the "go" list. Big news pushes stock prices up and pushes the "problem" stories on page 2.

    You might be right..

Other than that I find it amusing that "One more thing" is now a mainstream thing.

A bit pointless given that no software utilises the extra cores yet. But nice to know, I guess.

I'm still getting used to having two cores in my laptop!

Man, I don't know why people keep saying this. On OS X, *all software utilizes the extra cores*. The only way it wouldn't is if you have less than 8 processes running, which I guarantee you that you don't. (System alone requires 20-30 processes to run.)

Granted, 8 cores won't make Mail open up faster, but there are still plenty of ways to use those cores, and that's only going to increase as apps are re-written to be more heavily multi-threaded.

I pointed out the Grid layout many times in the other thread and was told that wasn't part of the lawsuit. If it is than Apple isn't just stretching... they are being idiotic.

According to the analysis, it is in the suit, as part of the trade dress claims.

I used to have a friend who would spend days tweaking the LINUX OS code so that his browser would look super duper cool.

How many people like that do you know?

Really? I would have thought he would have tweaked the code to the actual browser.

Checking email and Browsing the Internet is better on a bigger screen....Ability to open Office files, yes the iPhone does that well, but it's much better with a bigger screen.

Ah, so most of the stuff on Android is "better" only because it's on a bigger screen?

So if Apple came out with a 6" iPhone, that would make it better than Android, right?

Navigation system..using an Android you don't have to pay $70 (TomTom) for something which should've come with your device.

And the navigation app I purchased houses all the map data on the device and doesn't rely on a data connection to operate. Unlike Android's stock navigation.

What did Android release which was later than the iOS which defined a smartphone?

Um, how about the entire OS?

Yup, but not many people want to lug around a 10" tablet and would like the extra screen real estate on their phones. I know i would.

There are also people (like me) who prefer not to carry something the size of an old-school Palm Pilot in their pocket.

Yet another unimpressive "major" update to an O/S that's showing it's age and irrelevance. (Hell it's already to most consumers nothing more than "That thing you gotta hook your iPad up to to make it work.) Compared to the iDevice world, the computer side of Apple has ground to a halt. Is it intentional I wonder...? ;)

Enough!! Combine MacOS and iOS already!!! The transition is so painfully slow, would someone else in tech get off their lazy ass and prod these guys to move a LITTLE quicker?!?

A clear and balanced argument ladies and gentlemen.
So cogently valid as to supersede the need for evidence.

Edit: Wait .. i just got the sarcasm .. damn!

Maybe they need to wait in order to get 28/32nm A5 chips. No point in having an iPhone 5 with a 3 hour battery life

Well, if you're located and in SF and are you are a Safari user, or have questions about Safari, or maybe even questions about what SJ shows Safari-wise or other webkit-related content in Leopard, you don't have to shell out for WWDC admission, because the Safari/webkit folks are hosting a freebie (http://webkit.opendarwin.org/blog/?p=63) on Tuesday at 7 that's open to all.

If you are a Mac OS X developer, a browser hacker, a web developer, or just someone with an interest in cool technology, then come hobnob with WebKit contributors from Apple and elsewhere. Unlike WWDC itself, this event will be open to anyone who is interested free of charge. Also, it will be unbelievably awesome. We promise!

    Peace

    WAIT! WAIT!

This could be a good thing!

I would pay a dollar to fill up my new iPod with music. :D

"These [digital music player] devices are just repositories for stolen music, and they all know it," Morris was quoted as saying at the time. "So it's time to get paid for it.

IMHO i would love to see an 11.6 MBA with an i3. So that there could still be enough power for backlit.
And please, do make the screen better for the 11.6

There isn't an i3 in any low voltage or ultra low voltage spec for Sandy Bridge.

It runs Android. Pretty sure that's what he meant. So, Google, Android developers, Android marketplace.

Ah, I thought perhaps he knew something I didn't.

True, they don't have to spend a lot of time or money on core OS improvements.

Nor do they have to worry about maintaining an app market (or getting bad publicity because they approved baby-killer or gay-fixer apps). OTOH, they don't directly profit from app sales.

Samsung, HTC and others do have staff for third party developer relations, and all maintain R&D labs for their Android porting and customization.

That doesn't change the accounting. Cost is still the same, and they are pricing theirs very low. The first Tab came out at what, $800, and then dropped immediately on entrance to Costco and other retailers. Last I saw it was $400, I haven't been paying close attention, though.

It came out at $600, which many thought made some sense (http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/editorial-why-the-galaxy-tabs-price-makes-sense/) considering it had 3G and GPS. I bought one myself.

I think you're right, now it's as low as $400 on contract. (Heck, it's only $250 right now on T-Mobile (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SGH-T849ZKATMB).)
