Feeling the Heat? Justin Bieber appears uncomfortable as girlfriend Selena Gomez gives him a kiss during an NBA game

By MARCUS BARNES

Not too comfortable: Justin Bieber's face says it all as his girlfriend Selena Gomez wraps her arms around him during a basketball game in Dallas

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez continued to flaunt their young love at a basketball game last night.

Selena in particular being very touchy feely with her beau who appeared a little uncomfortable with her public displays of affection.

The pop superstar's face said it all as his Disney star girlfriend wrapped her arms around him during the NBA playoff match between Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas.

Nonchalant: The pop superstar keeps his hands in his pockets as Selena plants a loving kiss on his cheek

Justin, 17, kept his hands in his pockets at one point while Selena placed her arms tenderly around his neck and planted a kiss on his cheek.

The expression on his face seeming to indicate he was less than happy with his girlfriend's attentions.

Later he shared a warm embrace with the 18-year-old star of Wizards of Waverly Place, but was more concerned with the basketball match for most of their evening.

Avid fan: Justin appears to explain what's going on to his Disney star girlfriend as they enjoy the NBA playoff

Selena wore a white top with see-through lace sections across the midriff and on the arms, while Justin wore a black baseball cap and a matching jumper with an ice-cream logo emblazoned on the front.

The outing was a far cry from their recent romantic break to Hawaii.

During their holiday Justin and Selena were pictured frolicking in the sea together, Selena straddling her boyfriend as he held her up in his arms.

Deep Concentration: The couple managed to tear their attention away from each other to concentrate on the game

In the playoff match Miami Heat lost 86-83 to the Dallas Mavericks - the result left the teams tied at two games apiece in the best-of-seven series.

Perhaps Justin was distracted because he was conducting research for his forthcoming basketball movie.

Approached about the movie by MTV, he said: 'I know, it’s gonna be crazy!

Cheering the team on: Selena was seen clapping while Justin shared a joke with a friend

'You’ll have to see. I can’t really reveal too much about it.'

Justin's co-star Mark Wahlberg also recently spoke about the new film.

He explained that he was impressed by Bieber's video audition, saying: 'He sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he's really talented.'

Cellulite-free Sarah Jessica Parker proves she can still pull off a tiny minidress at 46

By DEBBIE EMERY

All leg: Sarah Jessica Parker, 46, put her best foot forward in a mini-dress and heels in New York yesterday

All that walking around New York has paid off for Sarah Jessica Parker.

The actress proved that hitting the pavement in high heels is the best leg-toner a woman can do as she stepped out in a super-short mini-dress and high-heeled ankle boots this morning.

The busy mother-of-three stopped traffic yesterday as she stepped out in a super-short mini-dress and high-heeled ankle boots in her West Village neigbourhood.

Her pseudonym Carrie Bradshaw refuses to let age affect her impeccable style and the Sex And The City star clearly follows in the footsteps of the role that made her famous.

'I’m ageing all the time. But what can I possibly do? Look like a lunatic?' she told People magazine about her healthy approach to ageing gracefully.

Fabulous at 46: The ageless actress is still as stylish as her Sex &The City character, Carrie Bradshaw, despite playing the part for 13 years

Fortunately her new job hasn't kept her away from acting. Parker began her career as a child actress in the television series Square Pegs and has not slowed down since.

She has two films due out later this year - I Don't Know How She Does It, in which she aptly plays a Boston hedge fund manager with two young children, and New Year's Eve, a ensemble comedy with Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Robert de Niro and Zac Efron.

Cheryl Cole slams Cowell as she declares friendship is over

By SARAH FITZMAURICE

Not friends: Cheryl Cole has told friends her friendship with Simon Cowell is over after the humiliation on the X Factor

She has been keeping a low profile since being fired from the U.S. version of the X Factor after just four days on the show.

But Cheryl Cole is said to be furious over the humiliation she has been subjected to and has told friends she is through with her friendship with Simon Cowell.

The singer, 27, is said to be so angry with the music mogul after he spoke out about her departure from the show stateside that she wants to cut all ties with him, according to reports by The Sun.

Stunning: Cheryl is seen in a romantic new shot as she launches the website for the Cheryl Cole Foundation

A source told the paper: ‘Cheryl trusted him implicitly and she doesn’t do that with many people.’

‘He made a mockery of their friendship so now it’s dead in the water.’

Cowell broke his silence over Cheryl’s exit from the show over the weekend and said the star had clearly been ‘uncomfortable’ while filming auditions for the talent show in America.

The multi-millionaire admitted he had received a message from Mrs Cole saying she felt ‘let down’ by him, adding: ‘A hundred per cent I have to take full responsibility, because I do have a lot of sway.

'Not herself': Simon said Cheryl was out of her comfort zone in the U.S. and had hoped she would return to the UK version of the show

‘This has been a rough two weeks. The hardest thing to accept is that everyone has painted me as a monster because I embarrassed her. But the truth was I was protecting her.'

‘I apologise that all this has become public and I understand the stress she is under, and I hate that. But we have all been under a lot of stress.’

While Cowell has said he was hoping Cheryl would return to the U.K. version of the X Factor and then said he invited her back to the U.S. show a source close to Cheryl told MailOnline: ‘Why would she go back when they let her down so badly?'

Last night at the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards Louis Walsh refused to talk about the former judge and said: ‘Change the record, seriously.’

Happier times: Cheryl Cole and Simon Simon Cowell on the X Factor in 2010 sharing a joke together

But the Irish manager did tell MailOnline he thinks that this year’s U.K. X Factor was ‘the best series yet’ and hinted that they may have already seen a winner in the auditions.

When asked about the U.S. X Factor and rivalry with Simon he said: ‘We are going to smash it, up until this week I was worried about the U.S show, but after seeing some of the talent out there it’s going to be amazing.’

While Cheryl and Simon's friendship is said to be 'over' Paula Abdul has taken to Twitter to talk about the Geordie singer.

She posted: 'Cheryl is amazing. We have forged a wonderful friendship & have been & will continue to stay in touch..'

Then added: '..I'm excited for everyone to see and hear what she is about to do next. xoP.'

Piers causes tears as he tells leader of teenage pop group to ditch bandmates on America's Got Talent

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Hopefuls: Teenage group Poplyfe took to the stage in scenes on aired last night on America's Got Talent in a bid to make it through to the Las Vegas round

Piers Morgan reduced a teenage girl to tears on America's Got Talent last night.

The former Fleet Street newspaper editor told the lead singer of Poplyfe that he was impressed with her vocal.

But he gave her a cruel ultimatum saying he would only put her through if she ditched her five other bandmates.

Mr Nasty: But Morgan told the lead singer she should dump her other five bandmates - otherwise he would give his vote

Saving the day: But fellow judges Sharon Osbourne an Howie Mandel came through and put the entire group through to the next round

Sticking to her guns, the girl, whose name was not revealed on the show, said: 'I cannot go without my brothers.'

Luckily for her, fellow judges Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel gave her and the rest of the band the thumbs up and put them through to the next round in Las Vegas.

But Piers said to them: 'Judging you as a group, I'm going to say no.'

The six-piece band, who are aged between 12 and 16 and who performed Travie McCoy's track Billionaire, were delighted with the final result after being saved by Howie and Sharon.

Introductions: The band is made up of members aged between 12 and 16

Acoustic set: They performed a version of Travie McCoy's track Billionaire

As they exited the stage, the lead singer triumphantly shouted at Piers: 'We will show you.'

But it appeared the stress of the audition was a little too much to take.

Moments later she dissolved into tears backstage when host Nick Cannon asked her why she was so emotional.

With tears in her eyes, she replied: 'Because I thought I was going to have to leave them.'

Last night's show kicked off with a hilarious skit by celebrity impressionist Melissa Villasenor.

Impressive: Kenyan acrobatic group Zuma Zuma got the thumbs up as they made a human pyramid

She earned laughs with her interpretations of Barbara Walters, Miley Cyrus, Kathy Griffin, Christina Aguilera and Natalie Portman.

Afterwards Sharon told the shop worker: 'You won't be working in retail much longer.' Melissa received three yes votes from the judges.

Next up was the A+C Twins, who failed to impress with their rendition of My Girl.

Wow: Anita McCoy did the splits to the surprise of the judging panel

Oh dear: The A+C Twins failed to impress despite comparing themselves to The Jacksons, seen here with judge Howie attempting to help them out

Howie even joined them on stage for a verse, but the twosome were sent packing after Sharon told them they couldn't sing.

An acrobatic group from Kenya called Zuma Zuma caught the attention of the judges as the put on a high-energy routine that saw them build a human pyramid. They secured the approval of all of the judges and made it to the next round.

But 33-year-old showman Mauricio Herrera was another flop in a night of weird and wonderful acts.

He performed Ricky Martin's Livin La Vida Loca, with Piers buzzing him out from the off before branding it 'horrendous'.

Other acts who made it through to Vegas included acrobatic couple The Daring Jones Duo, eight-year-old swing singer Sadie and The Elektrolytes, a hip-hop dance group.

How cute: Swing singer Sadie was a big hit with her very impressive voice

You're out: Mauricio Herrera failed to serve up the good with his rendition of Ricky Martin's Living La Vida Loca, leaving Piers with his head in his hands

Fuelling the flames of the games: Golden Olympic 2012 torch unveiled that will be carried by 8,000 runners

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Golden triangle: London 2012 chairman Lord Coe holds the three-cornered torch aloft as he unveils the design today

Lord Coe forced to defend ticket allocation process

This is the golden torch that will be carried by the 8,000 runners on the London 2012 relay, it was announced today.

The Olympic Flame will burn from a curved triangular aluminium tube which has a lace-like mesh complete with 8,000 holes - one to represent each torchbearer.

The triangular shape of the torch also symbolises the three times that London has staged the Games - 1908, 1948 and 2012. This is a special feat in Olympic history.

New and old: The 2012 torch, left, contains 8,000 holes to represent every runner, and right, the 1948 versions from the last time London hosted the Games

The torch, which will carry the Olympic Flame to the London 2012 Games opening ceremony, has been created by design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.

London 2012 chairman Lord Coe said: 'The torch that carries the Olympic Flame during the Olympic Torch Relay is one of the most recognisable and significant symbols of an Olympic Games.

London 2012's Olympic torch relay will start on May 19 in Land's End and travel as far as the outer Hebrides.

Denise Lewis, who won the gold medal in the heptathlon at the 2000 Olympics in sydney, with London 2012 torch

An average of 110 people a day will take centre stage by carrying the Olympic Flame on its journey around the UK before it arrives at the Olympic Stadium on July 27 for the lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony, signifying the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

They won a competitive tender, run by London 2012 and the Design Council, to create the torch.

They described it as 'quite simply the best project going - to design an icon for the Games'.

In a statement they said: 'We've wanted to be involved since July 2005 when we were celebrating winning the bid with the rest of the UK.

'We have worked hard to develop a torch that celebrates the relay, and reflects the passion for London and the Olympic Games.

'We wanted to make the most of pioneering production technologies and to demonstrate the industrial excellence available in the UK - it's a torch for our time.

Now that's got to hurt: Drunk goes tumbling head over heels down two flights of stairs... and still walks away

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Steady approach: It starts off well for dinner-suited man as he grabs the hand-rail, left, but he is soon in trouble, right, as he falls flat

Most people like to let their hair down once in a while during a big night out on the town.

But this dinner-suited reveller took things to extremes when he rolled down two flights of stairs after being thrown out of an awards ceremony.

CCTV footage of his antics has now been posted online, showing the unfortunate middle-aged man's attempt to make his way home in all its glory.

Keep on rolling: The drinker tries to use his leg as leverage in his quest to stand up, left, before regaining some composure, right, half-way down the stairs

Starting behind the Savoy Hotel in central London where he had earlier been ejected from a theatre awards ceremony hosted by Stephen Fry, the man at first grips a hand-rail as he attempts the first few steps.

But his pace quickens and he falls on his face for the first - but not the last time.

Regaining his feet on the middle section of the steps, the middle-aged drinker is quickly in trouble again, rolling head-first over the hand rail.

Pole-axed: This time the man falls in style, falling over the central rail before landing on his head, right

Ouch: It's going to be a case of a very sore head in the morning for this chap as he lands flat, and right, he heads for home, his work on the stairs done

Worryingly, the man falls directly on his head before rolling to the bottom of the steps.

However, the ill-effects of concrete to the face appear only temporary as the mystery man dusts himself down, wipes blood from his head and weaves his way home.
